Aw, shucks! Celebrate National Oyster Day at the best oyster bars in town

August 5 is National Oyster Day! It's prime time for eating oysters, fresh and plump from the chilly shores of Puget Sound, Willapa Bay, and the Salish Sea beyond.

Go low budget with the Oyster Power Hour at Anchovies & Olives ($1.50 oysters and $6 prosecco; 5 to 6 pm and 10 pm to close Sunday to Thursday).

Hit Oyster Happy Hour at Monsoon in Bellevue ($1.50 oysters from 3 to 6 pm and 9 pm to close daily).

For oysters + a fire pit + a view, head to North Lake Union and slurp at Westward.

For oysters + a fun crowd, head to any of the new Taylor Shellfish oyster bars (Lower Queen Anne, Pioneer Square, and Melrose Market on Capitol Hill).

Go for broke with a gorgeous platter of local delights at The Walrus and the Carpenter in Ballard.
