Dining Out for Christmas
The holidays are upon us, and if you want to hang up the apron this year, here are a few of our favorite places around town to take the family out for a Christmas feast. A word to the wise—make reservations sooner rather than later as these hot-ticket tables fill up fast.
Local dad and super-chef Ethan Stowell’s Goldfinch Tavern, located in the Four Seasons Hotel, is offering a four course Christmas Day feast from 3-9 pm. Appetizers are served family-style, then each diner chooses from a wide selection of thoughtfully-composed salads, extravagant entrees, and decadent desserts. $125/person, $35/kids aged 3-12. 99 Union St., Seattle.
Kid-friendly brewpub Belltown Brewing is open from 11:30 am to 8 pm on Christmas Eve to offer thirsty parents some festive seasonal craft brews, and the whole family can enjoy a traditional glazed ham feast. $25/person. 200 Bell St., Seattle.
For some upscale Northwestern fare with a spectacular view, head to Ballard favorite Ray’s Boathouse, open from 2 pm to 8 pm both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Order from the regular dinner menu or choose the special $60 three-course holiday option, offering crab, prime rib, salmon and more. If you feel like channeling your inner Ralphie and are craving Chinese food this Christmas, head to the International District to choose from a number of great options. Red Lantern offers high-quality contemporary Asian fare, and their mapo tofu is not to be missed. 520 S Jackson St., Seattle.
Or hit up Harbor City Restaurant for some of the most generously-portioned and delicious dim sum in town. 707 King St, Seattle.
Chef Maria Hines has long championed locally-sourced seasonal fare, and Tilth’s Christmas Eve menu showcases some of the best of what the Northwest has to offer. If your kids are budding foodies, bring them to this charming Wallingford mainstay to enjoy a four-course gourmet menu, featuring a Theo chocolate ganache cake that will blow their minds. 1411 N 45th St, Seattle.
If you’re after an extravagant holiday buffet, the upscale Dunbar Room in Downtown’s Hotel Sorrento is open Christmas Day from noon to 8 pm. The carving station offers prime rib, salmon and ham, there are enough sides and desserts to keep everyone at the table happy. For parents looking for a completely different Christmas dinner, or if tummies are grumbling again after all the festivities wind down, Big Mario’s Pizza starts serving at 9 pm and offers cheekily-named seasonal pies, such as the pesto-based Grinch. Various locations.
Kirkland’s Trellis serves incredible upscale Northwestern fare, and is open Christmas Eve from 4 to 8 pm, and on Christmas Day from noon to 8 pm, offering a three course menu for $95/person. 220 Kirkland Ave, Kirkland.
New darling of the Bellevue dining scene, The Lakehouse, is open from noon to 8 pm on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
