Morningside Academy, founded in 1980, is a nonprofit school that enjoys an international reputation. Our dynamic academic program offers 1:12 teacher/student ratio, daily report cards, students placed in classes by skill level instead of by age or grade and a system of teaching reasoning, problem solving, organizational and learning skills. We focus on foundation skills in reading, writing and mathematics, as well as offering a class in psychology. Once students complete the foundations curricula, they study content such as civics, history, and science. In addition, we offer a project-based learning course where students help determine the area of study.
The Morningside Model of Generative Instruction, our research-based methodology, is led by our highly trained teachers and results in exceptional gains for our students. Struggling learners who are not working up to potential with LD, ADD, ADHD or no diagnosis typically gain two years in one in their area of greatest deficit. Highly capable students advance because of skill level grouping.
