Life Sciences Weekend, Tree Houses Hike, Artventure, and more this weekend!

 

Exploration for All: Autism Early Open, Sat Nov 12 8-10 a.m. Pacific Science Center FREE

On the second Saturday of each month this year, all families affected by autism spectrum disorder are invited to explore Pacific Science Center during a special free morning visit. Crowds will be light, the lights will be low and the sound and visual stimulation will be turned down on interactive exhibits wherever possible. 

 

Life Sciences Research Weekend, Fri Nov 11 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Sat Nov 12 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sun Nov 13 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific Science Center

Meet amazing scientists and try your hand at incredible interactive science projects. It’s a weekend of demonstrations, exhibits and science talks for all ages. Event included with admission. $19.75, $17.75 seniors, $14.75 ages 6 to 15, $11.75 ages 3 to 5, IMAX shows extra.

 

Tree Houses Hike, Sat Nov 12 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. Discovery Park. FREE

Kids 2-3 with an adult can join a hike in the forest with a Seattle Urban Nature Guide and learn who makes their homes in the trees. Then help by planting a future home aka tree in the forest.

 

Girls Try Ice Hockey for Free, Sat 4:45-5:45 p.m. Highland Ice Arena. FREE

Do you have a Mighty Ducks fan who wants to try a slap shot? Here’s their chance. Girls ages 4 to 9 can give ice hockey a try in a welcoming, supportive environment. No experience or equipment needed. Register online.

 

Make a Mini Indoor Garden, Sky Nursery, Sun Nov 13 2-3 p.m.

Learn about indoor plants and how to care for them, then get planting! Make a miniature indoor garden to take home that is perfect for fairies and other tiny magical creatures. $10. Make a Mini Indoor Garden

 

Artventure: Portrait Party, Sun Nov 13 1-3 p.m. Henry Art Gallery. FREE

Held the second Sunday of every month, Artventures encourages families to play, learn and create together. This week learn about Chuck Close and how he captures the tiniest details of his friends’ faces to create larger-than-life portraits. Then create a portrait of your favorite person without even showing their face.
