Theater for Young Children Sat Apr 14, 10 a.m. On The Boards

Join Sweet Pea Cottage and On the Boards Theater for an adaption of two Japanese folk tales: The Rabbit in the Moon and Tasty Baby Belly Buttons. Designed for kids ages 2 to 10, the ensemble contains performers from Seattle's theater and music communities and features Rob Witmer, musician and music director at Seattle Children's Theatre. $5 per person or $20 per family.


Leap for Green Fair Sat Apr 14, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Mercer Island Community Center. FREE

It’s the 10th anniversary of this event celebrating Earth Day. This year’s theme, On The Move,  promotes environmental practices and getting around the Island (Mercer) and the region more sustainably.  Enjoy a day of live entertainment & music, arts & crafts, gardening, a Luther Burbank wetland tour, farm animals, sustainability vendors, electric bike demos, transit talks, food cards and more.


Family Saturday: Chigiri-E Collage Demo Sat Apr 14, 11 a.m.-1 p.m Seattle Japanese Garden

Bring the whole family to learn Chigiri-e, a collage technique practiced in Japan. It translates as “to tear art,” or “painting with paper” using delicate hand-made papers that resemble watercolor painting. Event included with admission - free admission for ages 12 and younger. $8, $6 Seattle residents with ID, $4 ages 6-17, seniors, persons with disabilities, students, free ages 5 and younger.


International Children’s Friendship Festival Sat/Sun Apr 14/15, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center. FREE

Celebrate youth around the world and learn about many cultures and traditions at a weekend full of dance, songs, musical performances, a children’s forum, arts and crafts, and more at the Seattle Center Fisher Pavilion. The event is run by children’s groups representing dozens of countries. Everyone is welcome.


Seussical Jr Sun Apr 15, 2 p.m. Village Theatre

“Oh, the thinks you can think” when all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters finally collide. Village Theatre proudly presents Seussical Jr., an extravagant madcap romp into the fantastical world of Theodor Geisel. Come see what happens when all your favorite Seuss characters come to life, including the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, and even all the Whos in Whoville. Today is your day! You don’t want to miss out. Show runs through April 29. $18, $16 youth and seniors. 


The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley Sat/Sun Apr 14/15, 1 & 3 p.m. SecondStory Repertory

What would you do if you woke up one day flat as a pancake? Come find out how ten-year-old Stanley handles his paper-thin challenges. This fun live-action musical is part of the Theater for Young Audiences series brought to life on stage by SecondStory Repertory. The show runs 1 and 3 p.m. weekends through Apr. 28. $12. Sundays only: $6 ages 1 to 3, free under age 1.
