Street Scramble at the Market Sat Dec 9, 9:30 a.m. Pike Place Market (near gum wall)

Search for checkpoints at this on-foot, two-hour urban orienteering event. Happens rain or shine, great for families. 9:30 a.m. maps issued, 10 a.m. start. $26 to $30, $16 to $20 ages 13 to 21 and adults accompanying kids, $5 ages 6 to 12, free ages 5 and younger. A portion of fees benefit the Market Foundation. Pre-registration suggested.

 

Volunteer Park Model Train Sat Dec 9, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Volunteer Park Seasonal House

Looking for some holiday cheer? Visit the Volunteer Park Holiday Express Train in the Seasonal House thru Jan. 1. Open for viewing during regular business hours 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tues. through Sun.

 

Family Magic Show Sat Dec 9, 1-2 p.m. Center House Theater

Magician Raymond amazes and delights during this hour-long interactive magic show. Watch as he combines comedy magic, stage illusions, mind reading and lots of audience participation to engage kids of all ages. Be sure to stay after the show to learn a magic trick. $5 (cash only), free ages 3 and younger.

 

Christmas Carol Junior Sat Dec 9, 1-2 p.m. SecondStory Rep

It’s an original, hour-long family-friendly adaptation of the popular Dicken’s classic narrated by Mrs. Claus. Shows at 1 and 3 p.m. weekends through Dec. 17.

 

Green Lake Pathway of Lights Sat Dec 9, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Green Lake Park. FREE

2.8-miles of luminaria! Stroll the path around Green Lake with your own lights and become a part of the show. Event occurs rain or shine. Please bring non-perishable food donations and enjoy local musicians at four sites around the lake. Volunteers are needed to help place and light the thousands of luminaria and to clean up after the event. Call 206-684-0780 to learn more.

 

ArtVenture: If I Was a Forest Sun Dec 10, 1-3 p.m. Henry Art Gallery FREE

Consider the way your family relates to the environment and the natural world then create unique self-portraits based on your impressions. Pre-registration recommended. Supplies provided.
