Nutcracker Sweets, Shorewood Performing Arts Center, Sat 1 & 5 p.m. Enjoy The Nutcracker in a nutshell, aka a short and sweet version of the classic ballet, great for families and young audiences. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Seattle Public Theater at the Bathhouse, Sat 2 and 4 p.m. A hilarious and heart-warming holiday story of the misfit Herdman kids who take over the annual church pageant. Hour-long play is great for families. Runs weekends thru Dec 20, plus Dec 22-24. $34, $32 seniors and military, $17 ages 12-25, $5 ages 11 and younger. seattlepublictheater.org

The 12 K's of Christmas, Heritage Park, Kirkland, Sun 8 a.m. Think of all the fruitcake, holiday cookies and eggnog you can have after this fun morning. Take part in a 5K or 12K run/walk then stay for a costume contest, Santa, music and a holiday celebration.
