Bird Focus: Backyard Bird Feeders Sat, Jan 11 8-10 a.m. Seward Park Audubon Center. $5

Each month Seward Park Audubon Center’s lead naturalist, Ed Dominguez, showcases the intricacies of a specific group of birds. Raptors one month, woodpeckers the next! This month it’s backyard bird feeders. Come check out the center’s amazing array of feeders and the wide range of birds who visit them. Learn what food sources you can offer to welcome a great variety of birds.

Best for ages 8 and older. Pre-register. 


Play Space Sat, Jan 11 9:15 a.m. – 5 p.m. Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center. FREE

Want a great way for your kids to get out their wiggles when the weather isn’t cooperating? Head to the Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center for a highly interactive drop in play time and let them develop their motor skills and social skills as they ride scooters, play with bouncy toys, and more. Great for children ages 1-5. Adult supervision required. Times are subject to change; call ahead. 


Kids Saturday in the Park – Life Size Maze Sat, Jan 11 10-12 Olympic Sculpture Park. FREE

Spend a fun-filled afternoon with your family learning about art and the environment with teaching artist Rachel Kotkin. Richard Serra’s Wake is one of the park’s biggest artworks. How do you feel when you walk through this huge metal sculpture? Explore scale and movement then build a collaborative life-size maze. BYO cardboard boxes or wrapping paper tubes from home to help build your creation!


Kindie West Music Series Sun, Jan 12 10:30-11:30 a.m. Fauntleroy Schoolhouse. $5 for kids 6 months and older; $10 adults

Come jump, jive and dance to great music with the whole family at the Fauntleroy Schoolhouse in West Seattle this Sunday. Harmonica Pocket, a Seattle kindie favorite, will be rockin’ the house, so put on your best dancing shoes.


Chess Club for Kids & Teens Sun, Jan 12 1-3 p.m. Shoreline Library. FREE

Play chess, learn chess, or teach chess to others at the Shoreline Library this Sunday. Drop in and enjoy a casual and fun atmosphere with snacks provided. Great for kids ages 6 and older - all skill levels are welcome! Aladdin Jr the Musical Sun, Jan 12 3-4:30 p.m.  Rainier Arts Center. Tickets $15-20

Disney’s Aladdin JR. is based on the 1992 Academy Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within.

Come see the story you know and love with Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, the Genie and the princess, Jasmine. With expanded characters, new songs, and more thrills, this new adaptation of the beloved story will open up “a whole new world” for your family!
