There's so much to see on the beach at low tide! Seattle Aquarium stations experts on many beaches to help.

Seattle Aquarium

"Wild Tensions" Family Day
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 16
Center for Architecture & Design. FREE

 

Head to the Center for Architecture & Design this weekend, visit the Wild Tensions exhibit and learn about the design of outdoor spaces.  Families can learn about Seattle wildlife, create their own trail mix and learn how to build a wilderness shelter. Exhibit open through Aug. 18.

 

Arctic Sunrise tours
10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, June 16
Lake Union Park. FREE

The Arctic Sunrise, Greenpeace's historic ship, is in town and open for free public tour Come meet the crew, tour the ship, and learn about Greenpeace's work in the Pacific Northwest. All ages welcome and families encouraged. Plus you can take your child's photo in the captain's chair!

 

World Migratory Bird Day
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 16
Juanita Bay Park, Kirkland. FREE

 

Join Eastside Park Rangers and discover Juanita Bay Park’s natural wonders on fun walk this Saturday. Take part in a migration activity, visit nature-related booths, learn about our feathered friends, and play bird-related games. Bird bracelets, stickers, coloring pages and tattoos await the younger set. Parking located in the south parking lot and along Market Street.

 

Explore the Beach with Naturalists
11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 16-17
Various Seattle-area beaches. FREE

Pull on your waterproof footwear and join volunteer naturalists during low tide on many nearby beaches to learn about Puget Sound's multitude of marine plants and animals. See Aquarium link above for full schedule, and then get to South Alki Beach, Carkeek Park, Seahurst Park, Olympic Sculpture Park, Richmond Beach, Dash Point State Park, Redondo Beach, Saltwater State Park, Des Moines Beach Park, Golden Gardens Park, or Lincoln Park for a fun day next to the water.

 

Board Game Sunday
1-4 p.m. Sunday, June 17
Ballard branch, Seattle Public Library. FREE

Put down those devices and head to the Ballard Branch of the Seattle Public Library for some old-fashioned fun. They will have a variety of board games including Blokus, Carcassonne, Ticket to Ride, Jenga and Scrabble or bring along your favorite board game to share and teach some new friends how to play.

"You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown"
2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 16-17
Seattle Musical Theatre at Magnuson Park

Happiness is ... a musical rendition of Charlie Brown. You’re in luck, it’s happening for one final weekend at Magnuson Park. Join Seattle Musical Theatre as they bring these popular characters by Charles Schultz to life on stage in song. $20-$40.
