Family-friendly spring fun runs (and walks) around Seattle



St. Jude Rock & Roll Marathon

Ah, May and June, the lush time in spring when summer's warmth usually just out of reach. Rain or shine, though, it's usually comfortable weather for running, and hitting a community race together can be a fun weekend activity, particularly as many of these events raise money for a cause. Here's a list of family-friendly events to keep you fit as we head towards summer.

 

Saturday, May 25

Magnuson Memorial Day Weekend Run

Magnuson Park

Time: 10 a.m. start for 5K, 10K and 15K. Kids 400 yard dash at 9:45 a.m

Cost: $22 for the 5K, $27 for the 10K, $32 for the 15K. (Day of race registration is $10 more) Kids dash $3.

Strollers allowed? Yes.

 

Sunday, June 2

Big Backyard 5K

Marymoor Park

Fundraiser for: King County Parks

Time:  9 a.m. start for 5K and 10K, Kids quarter-mile dash at 10:15 a.m., for ages 10 and under.

Cost: $40 to $45 for 5K for adults, $20 for youth 14 and under, $45 to $50 for 10K, Kids dash free.

Strollers allowed? Yes.

 

Saturday, June 8

St Jude Rock and Roll 5K

Museum of Flight

Fundraiser for: St Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Time: 9 a.m.

Cost: $58 Minimum age: 8.

During race: Local bands will serenade you.

After race: Free admission to the Museum of Flight

Strollers allowed? No.

 

Sunday, June 9

St Jude Rock and Roll Marathon and half Marathon

Seattle Center

Fundraiser for: St Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Time: 6:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Cost: $108 for the half marathon, $128 for the full marathon.

Minimum age: 12 for the half marathon. 18 for the full.

During race: Local bands will serenade you from stages along the course

Strollers allowed? No.

 

Saturday, June 15

Magnuson Solstice Run

Magnuson Park

Time: 10 a.m. start for 5K, 10K and 15K. Kids 400 yard dash at 9:45 a.m, also a 5K-ish obstacle dash at 11 a.m.

Cost: $22 for the 5K, $27 for the 10K, $32 for the 15K. Obstacle Dash $45. (Day of race registration is $10 more) Kids dash $3.

Strollers allowed? Yes.

 

Saturday, June 22

Bridle Trails 5K Coyote Challenge

Bridle Trails Park, Kirkland

Fundraiser for: Bridle Trails Park Foundation

Time: 9 a.m.

Cost: $35 to $40 for adults, $20 to $25 for youth 14 and under.

After the race, you can buy a pancake breakfast, explore an adventure trail and enjoy kids activities and equestrian entertainment.

Strollers allowed? Yes.

 

Sunday, June 23

Defeat Multiple Myeloma 5K Run and 1 mile Walk

Magnuson Park

Fundraiser for: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center

Time: 9 a.m.

Cost: $30 to $40 for adults, $10 for children under 10

Strollers allowed? Yes.
