On Saturday, November 7, Seattleites are coming together to plant thousands of plants in parks around town for Green Seattle Day. Last year’s event volunteers planted 5,000 individual plants, and the city hopes to plant even more for 2015’s tenth annual Green Seattle Day.

You can register at your local park, or help plant at a different park; Planting will take place at fifteen parks around the city. The Rainier Community Center is the official hub for the event, but attendees can sign up for volunteering at all parks. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, as parks will fill up, and organizers hope to get accurate head counts for attendees.

Green Seattle Day kicks off at 9 am on Nov. 7 at Rainier Community Center with coffee and snacks; from there, buses will take volunteers to South End parks. Activities will take place throughout the day; Make sure to bring waterproof boots.

Lunch will be served at Rainier Community Center when planting is over.
