Get outdoors on Black Friday with free entrance to two Washington national parks

REI is encouraging folks to #OptOutside instead of participating in Black Friday shopping – and Washington's National Parks Fund is following suit.

This year, some folks are choosing to opt out of the usual Black Friday shopping bonanza in favor of getting outdoors.

REI announced that their stores would be closed on Black Friday as part of their #OptOutside campaign, a move to encourage would-be shoppers to get outdoors on Friday.

In keeping with the idea, Washington's National Parks Fund is opening two national parks for free on Black Friday: Olympic National Park and Mt. Rainier.

Sarah Creachbaum, superintendent at Olympic National Park, says, "The day after Thanksgiving is a great time for fresh air and a little exercise. […] Thanksgiving is a time-honored American tradition, and we invite families to create new traditions by enjoying a fee-free day at two of the Northwest's premier national parks."

Where will you be getting outdoors this Black Friday?
