Rally for Recess and Equity today at Leschi Elementary
Seattle educators, parents and kids are holding a “Rally for Recess and Equity” today at 11 am at Leschi Elementary.
The rally will address the lack of recess time at many Seattle schools, as well as other equity issues like disproportionate discipline for students.
In contract negotiations with SEA, the Seattle School Board has rejected proposals on part of the Seattle Education Association to create equity teams at all Seattle schools and to guarantee 45 minutes of recess for all elementary students.
Rally speakers will include Seattle teachers and parents; the rally will feature an ice cream truck and kids will be allowed to play on the playground. Leschi Elementary playground, 135 32nd Ave, Seattle, 98122
