A handmade gift is extra-special for both the receiver and giver. Here are upcoming classes and drop-in events where kids can make holiday gifts and decorations. These are popular so be sure to sign your kid up quickly if they're interested!
Classes at Emerald City Fired Arts
Local ceramics studio Emerald City Fired Arts features a number of pottery classes for kids, as well as family pottery classes. They offer classes for kids from birth up to age 12 – check out their class offerings here.

Though gingerbread houses aren’t quite gift material, they make a fantastic decoration for the holiday season. Pop over to MOHAI for a drop-in gingerbread house-making day; kits are $15 each and no preregistration is necessary.

Gingerbread house workshops at KidsQuest Children's Museum
Head to the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue on Nov. 27 and 28 with KidsQuest Children's Museum to decorate a gingerbread house. Preregistration is required; $45 per member family and $50 per nonmember family. Extra houses are $25.

Holiday painting camps at Paint Away
Redmond’s Paint Away ceramics studio is offering a number of awesome holiday gift classes this month and next.
At Paint Away’s Black Friday arts camp, kids can paint a heart mug, make a message frame, paint a canvas, and create a glass fused hanger as well as two painted ornaments.
Friday, Nov. 27, 9 am to 2:30 pm for kids 5 to 13. $75.
At their Ornament Studio, kids will make 10 glass fused ornaments and paint a holiday plate.
Friday, Dec. 4, 6 to 9 pm for kids 5 to 13. $45.
At their “Jingle All the Way” event, kids will create a holiday painting, paint a bowl, and create a painted trivet and Santa candy dish.

Hanukkah painting party at Creatively Yours Ceramic Studio
PAVE Seattle and PJ Library are putting on a Hanukkah painting party at Creatively Yours Ceramic Studio for kids. Drop-off is allowed, and kids will be able to create Hanukkah crafts and nosh on snacks.

Maker Market at the Burke Museum
Kids can get the chance to experience firsthand the practice of boatmaking with the Burke Museum’s curator of Native anthropology, Dr. Sven Haakanson. Kids will get the chance to test their own boat-lashing skills and craft boat ornaments inspired by the Angyaaq, a traditional Native boat that was built by Sugpiat peoples of Alaksa and destroyed by Russian settlers in the 1800s; Dr Haakanson will also chat with museum attendees while he constructs the Angyaaq from Dec. 5 to 19.

Winter break camps at Museo Art Academy
Museo Art Academy hosts a series of amazing winter break camps this year where kids can create art projects, including clay sculpture, printmaking, drawing and painting. Check the schedule of classes here.
$180 for a three-day morning camp or three-day afternoon camp; $45 for a three-day supervised lunch break. Lunch supervision is included if kids are signed up for both morning and afternoon sessions.

Winter Wonderland camp at Seattle Children’s Museum
