Spring is bursting out and Seattle's Child is hiring!




Spring is fast approaching and Seattle's Child is having a growth spurt!  We  are seeking the best and the brightest to join us  in a number of areas of the business.

Things to Do Website Editor

The Job: Responsible for all content in the Things to Do section at seattleschild.com. Includes updating, assigning and writing content as well as posting on website and selecting content for newsletters. 

Qualifications: Must be knowledgeable  and insatiably  curious about fun things to do with kids ages 14 and under in the greater Seattle area, as well as a stickler for detail and accuracy and a fast, experienced writer with a friendly tone.   In addition, our most desirable canidate will have experience assigning and editing content as well as is ability to  use a CMS to upload website content and SM to promote content. Willingness to do regular research with young reviewers (most likely your own kids) is essential.

Hours/Pay: Pay will be competitive and based on candidate's job experience. Position is half-time  and work hours are self-determined. You'll work out of a virtual office. 

 

Website Staff Writer 

The Job: Seattle's Child is seeking an experienced journalist to be our website staff writer available on short notice to write both short and longer pieces for all sections of the website except Things to Do with the Kids. The job  consists of both seeking out interesting topics and handling assignments as well as posting content on the site in a timely fashion.  Must be available for occasional next-day or same day turn-around as well as updating and editing of current content. Excellent opportunity for journalist seeking flexible hours with interest in local topics related to families.  

Qualifications: Journalism background, preferably experience on a daily newspaper. Must be comfortable covering a wide range of local topics relevant to families. 

Hours/Pay:  Hours vary, work from home. Pay is competitive, small base plus per word.  Expected work-load will range from 10 - 20 hours per week. 

 

Marketing Assistant

 The Job: This is a great opportunity for someone seeking part-time work, including some weekends, who loves talking to parents and is excited about working with a fun and talented team to increase community familiarity with Seattle's Child as well as  grow enewsletter subscriptions. It may be combined with the Sales Assistant position above if we find the right candidate qualified for both jobs who wishes to work more hours. 

Responsibilities include:

-Working with our design and production team to develop outstanding marketing materials for public distribution
-Handling logistics for the Seattle's Child "booth" at events where high numbers of families are in attendance
-Working with one additional person at a minimum of two events per month, typically on weekends,  to increase community familiarity with Seattle's Child and grow enewsletter subscriptions. 

- Informal customer research to develop improved marketing strategy and improve customer satisfaction. 

Qualifications: Desirable candidates need to  be outgoing, have excellent verbal skills, love Seattle's Child and be excited about seeking out creative ways to expand our readership. Marketing experience is desirable but not essential. Must have driver's license. 

Hours/Pay: $16/hourly + commission based on enewsletter subscription growth.  Approximately  25 hours/month  - about 15 hours of which will be working at events. 

 

Sales Assistant

The Job: This is a great opportunity for someone seeking part-time work from your home during regular work hours, who loves the challenge and satisfaction of providing valuable support to help our highly successful (and exceptionally pleasant)  sales team be more successful.  This position can be combined with the Marketing Assistant position for the right candidate who is qualified for both jobs and wants more hours. 

Responsibilities include:

- Work with our ad designer and sales director to design and produce outstanding sales materials. 

- Maintain our CRM sales tool

- Coordinate gettings ads from point of sale to production manager. 

- Willingness to do whatever is required to help grow sales.

Qualifications:  Experience in print and digital sales desirable. Must enjoy team work and solving problems, enjoy the scramble at deadlines and be resourceful at making best use of time during quieter stretches. 

Hours/Pay: Hourly rate depending on experience plus quarterly bonus based on sales team reaching goals. 

Starting at approximately 40  hours monthly. Hours likely to expand, please apply only if willing to grow to salaried half-time position by September 1.
