Strengthening Families Washington 2017 Unsung Hero Elena Gomez Cruz
2017 Unsung Hero Elena Gomez Cruz
Seattle's Child is proud to once again sponsor the Unsung Heroes being honored in February by the Department of Early Learning’s Strengthening Families Washington. Every day this month we'll present an Unsung Hero on seattleschild.com. Nominations are accepted from around the state and include biological parents, grandparents, foster and adoptive parents. Some volunteer at local schools; some have started nonprofit organizations; some mentor others in their communities. All honorees are true heroes - outstanding caregivers doing important work on behalf of children.
February 12, 2017
Honoree: Elena Gomez Cruz, Marysville
Nominator: Mely Cervantes
Elena is a very hardworking mom of three, including a son with autism. Elena has been in our community of The Arc of Snohomish County for several years already and has become a great leader for our Hispanic families. She has helped many parents with her experience and has encouraged new parents to get involved in our group and to be advocates for their kids.
Her courage in hard times, her commitment to our community, her love for her kids, kindness to others and my admiration for this awesome mom make me feel so proud to nominate her for this award.
