The Festival of Lights: Seattle-area Hanukkah celebrations, 2019

Hanukkah starts the evening of Dec. 22 and finishes on the evening of Dec. 30. Here are some events around town to celebrate this holiday with light, games and delicious food.

 

Hanukkah Community Concert & Celebration

Sunday Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. 

Stroum Jewish Community Center
3801 E Mercer Way, Mercer Island

 

It’s a Hanukkah Family Dance Party, featuring Elana Jagoda and Chava Mirel, a duo of young women who will perform an exciting Hanukkah repertoire. 

 

Hands on Hanukkah

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15

Northgate Mall, Seattle; and Crossroads Mall, Bellevue

Make your own menorah, decorated Hanukkah cookies and build dreidel and menorah sun-catcher in this free event organized by Stroum Jewish Community Center.

 

Light up the Night-Burger Fest

Sunday, Dec. 22, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Westlake Park

An evening of unity and celebration, including a big menorah to light, and lots of food available, including latkes, donuts, and gourmet burgers. Hosted by Chabad Young Professionals Seattle and Chabad of Downtown.

 

Grand Menorah Lighting at Volunteer Park

Sunday, Dec. 22, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Volunteer Park

Join Chabad of Capitol Hill for a grand menorah lighting and celebration.

 

More Menorah lightings

On Dec. 22, Local Chabad organizations will mount festive public menorah lightings all over the region, including Ballard, Queen Anne, Shoreline, Kirkland, Issaquah, and Lynnwood.
