Unsung Hero: Aaron Morningred, 'an inspiration as a person and a parent'
Seattle's Child is proud to once again sponsor the Unsung Heroes being honored in February by the Department of Children, Youth and Families Strengthening Families Washington.
Every day this month we'll present an Unsung Hero.
Nominations are accepted from around the state and include biological parents, grandparents, foster and adoptive parents. Some volunteer at local schools; some have started nonprofit organizations; some mentor others in their communities. All honorees are true heroes: outstanding caregivers doing important work on behalf of children.
Aaron Morningred, Lakebay
I would like to nominate my brother.
He is an absolutely incredible parent and is so selfless in the way he cares for his family. He doesn't move mountains in his community, but he is one of the most selfless people I've ever met. He is the father to six incredible children and he gives everything he has every day. He is the sole provider and even after working hard all day he comes home, makes sure all everyone is heard, supported and their "hug tanks" are full.
My nieces are 14, 13, 5 and 3 so it is a tricky household to navigate! My amazing sister-in-law also unfortunately suffers from chronic migraines sporadically, and Aaron cares for her as well. He puts everyone before himself all the time and even finds time to help our parents with whatever they need.
He is an inspiration as a person and a parent and I hope to be half the parent he is when it's my turn.
