Volterra's new all-day, all-ages happy hour

With the exception of breweries that host food trucks (or serve bowls of pretzels to hold over hungry kids), family-friendly happy hours are few and far between in Seattle. Here's a happy exception: Ballard Ave.'s Volterra just rolled out a new, all-day happy hour, giving parents the option of catching up with friends over a glass of red and wild boar sliders instead of coffee and pastry.

The Monday through Friday, noon to 6 pm happy hour (3 to 6 pm on the weekend) happens in the Italian restaurant's front room, which is split between a bar for the 21+ crowd and dining room with all-ages seating. Parents can opt for $4 pints and split plates of lamb meatballs, baked cauliflower and "super smoked" chicken wings with kids.

Also, try Tutta Bella's popular, daily happy hour from 3 to 6 pm, where you can order $6 pizza and $5 wine at the pizza chainlet's Wallingford, SLU, Issaquah and Columbia City outposts. Or grab a seat at an outdoor fire pit from 3 to 6 pm at Fremont Ave's Pecado Bueno, serving $3 margaritas, $2 tacos and chips with salsa from a fun toppings bar.
