Food Lifeline, which operates a network of 300 emergency feeding programs in Western Washington, released the results of the 2010 Hunger in America study this week. The study, conducted by Feeding America and with local data from Food Lifeline, shows that the number of families in Washington that are hungry has increased.
More specifically, in 10.8 percent of households with children that utitlize Food Lifeline agencies, the children still missed meals due to a lack of money to buy food. These stats agree with other recent studies, including one from The Food Research and Action Center that shows nearly one in five Washington households couldn't afford enough food in 2009.
