Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day
Show your love for independent books on Independent Bookstore Day.
It's one thing to celebrate the idea of independent bookstores; it's another to show up at the party. This, brings the chance to support 17 Seattle area retailers on Independent Bookstore Day, a national initiative in its second year that, not surprisingly, promises plenty of lively offerings in our hyper-literate city, many aimed at families.
The truly dedicated can undertake the Indie Bookstore Challenge, which entails visiting each of the 17 participating stores and thus earning 25% off at all of them for the rest of the year. Or just wander down to your local shop and see what festivities are going on. As author Ann Patchett said, "If what a bookstore offers matters to you, then shop at a bookstore."
