Looking for inspiration in this trying time? Look no further.
A local Washington state author has published a charming new children’s book, and all proceeds from its sale will help to build a very special park in Seattle.
“A Home for Gnome” was written by June Vanderhoff in memory of her grandson, Elijah Del Reischl, who was born in 2013 with an extra chromosome and lived not quite 4 years.
He is also the inspiration for the in-progress Eli’s Park, a reimagining of the Burke-Gilman Playground Park on Sand Point Way Northeast in Seattle.
The book features a lovable gnome named Lampy who, after waking up with wet socks, goes on an adventure to find a home that is dry, safe, and warm, making friends and learning lessons along the way.
All of the proceeds from “A Home for Gnome” will be donated to The Eli’s Park Project, which is more than halfway to its fundraising goal.
