Seattle's Child

Your guide to a kid-friendly city

Become an anchor for a kid who needs one

The Anchor Project, a new Seattle nonprofit, connects volunteer mentors with kids who need an anchor in our community.

The Anchor Project, a new Seattle nonprofit, connects volunteer mentors with kids who need an anchor in our community. The project is committed to helping kids foster connections with mentors and engage creative outlets through the arts — from music to bike mechanics. The kids reached through the project aren’t selected based on socioeconomic criteria; they may be lacking direction or in uncertain circumstances, caught up in drug or alcohol abuse, or could simply use a helping hand. In addition to mentoring, the kids deepen their community roots by performing required community service. If you’re interested in becoming a mentor, want to volunteer in artistic capacities or donate, visit theanchorproject.org for more information.
