2025 Summer Camps
Steamoji is a maker academy for kids ages 5-18 that trains builders, makers, inventors and entrepreneurs. We believe the best way to prepare for a world of accelerating change is to train our children with the foundational skills and mindsets to build solutions to the problems of their future.
Technological change is accelerating. Many parents feel STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) are important to help prepare their children the careers of their future, but see schools more focused on traditional studies.
Steamojiās 400-hour Build to Solveā¢ curriculum is designed to fill this gap in a structured and reinforcing fashion across five subjects pathways: fabrication, physical computing, engineering, digital arts and applied design. Students are taught basic skills, then encouraged to practically apply them in a spirit of āBuild to Solve.ā
Academy Memberships
A Steamoji membership includes 8 directed sessions per month and 4 drop-in sessions. Directed sessions are led by short video clips at a workstation and are supported by facilitators who help the āapprenticesā understand what they need to do and overcome any obstacles that might arise. Drop-in sessions are designed for apprentices to build on what they learned by designing a product of their imagination.
Holiday Camps
We offer a range of Summer, Winter and Spring Break camps designed to keep your child engaged during school breaks. Camps run weekly from 9am-3pm, Monday to Friday, with both full-day and half-day options available. For more information or to register, visit https://www.steamoji.com/camps.
At School and Online
Steamojiās 10-week Build to Solveā¢ Intro program compliments and enriches childrenās school studies by exposing them to new technologies in fabrication, physical computing, engineering and digital arts. With these foundational skills, students are then challenged with problems and encouraged to imagine, create and improve their own solutions. This program is available at schools in Richmond Central, Kerrisdale, Kitsilano, West Vancouver or Coquitlam, or online.

We provide 2:1 support for children with special needs, or allow them to attend the academy with a parent or support person. The curriculum has not been specifically designed with special needs in mind, but generally we find our hands-on, building and problem-solving approach to learning works well for kids with learning disabilities who tend to struggle in the traditional education system.
