Center for Wooden Boats

Part museum, part activity center, all good fun. With all types of wooden boats for rent (canoes, rowboats, sailboats, and paddleboats), kids can get a hands-on experience with the boats on exhibit. The center also holds free rowboat and sailboat rides (must reserve in advance and they are very popular), youth programs and camps for various ages addressing all things boat-related, from sailing to woodworking, and model sailboats for rent that you can sail in the pond nearby.

Ride the Streetcar

The 1.3 mile streetcar line between Downtown and Lake Union - Seattle headquarters for Amazon, Google and many other tech giants - wasn't built for entertainment, but the brightly-colored public transportation provides a quick, fun trip that will likely thrill the kids. Hop on at South Lake Union Park and ride it  Downtown to the south end of the line to walk down to the Pike Place Market or connect to the Monorail ride to the Seattle Center for a little more public transportation fun. There are seven stops along the way - the ride takes about 10 minutes and the trolley departs every 12 to 15 minutes. Fare for a single-ride ticket: Adults:(19 to 64)  $2.25 , Youth (18 and under) Free, Seniors (65+) $1.00
