In our unique island forest setting, Whidbey Island Waldorf School educates students through academic excellence, toward a lifelong love of learning, with the head to think for themselves, the heart to serve others and the courage to take action for the common good as citizens of the world. Waldorf schools are based upon a deeply developmental philosophy and understanding of the nature of children and how they naturally grow and learn. We seek to educate the whole child, integrating rigorous academics with emotional, social and spiritual growth and physical skills. Whidbey Island Waldorf School places a strong focus on social health and inclusion, as well as diversity, equity and social justice, through our school curriculum, festivals, parent education and events. Waldorf education is a social education.
Email Karina, [email protected], to learn more about our Waldorf school in the big woods and come in for a tour! We offer Polliwog Caregiver & Child Classes, a Little Woods Toddler Program, two Preschools – one if which is an outdoor Preschool- and three Kindergartens, including our Meadow Outdoor Forest Kindergarten. Our Early Childhood program offers a nurturing environment in which the young child enters into imaginative and dynamic play. Our Grade School, Grades 1-8, runs 5 days a week, from 8:30am – 3:00pm. Our students learn to work with others to develop knowledge and wisdom. They learn to express themselves and their ideas clearly, confidently, and creatively. They learn who they are and how to use their strong moral character and will to positively impact the world. They learn to learn, and they love to learn.
