Epiphany School is a non-religious, independent school in Seattle’s beautiful Madrona neighborhood. Epiphany’s welcoming community embraces its diversity, celebrates the joy of childhood, and ignites lifelong curiosity in our students. Known for excellent academics and a strong social-emotional learning program, Epiphany cultivates a warm atmosphere in which every child is truly known.
Starting with our littlest learners in pre-k, our talented faculty weave the school’s core values — fostering joyful learning, encouraging exploration, building responsibility, and inviting everyone in to shine — into the learning experience. Our grade-level faculty members collaborate in teams and work with volunteers both in and out of the classroom to guide pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students in our highly experiential and integrated curriculum. Class lessons are very interactive, focusing on foundational subjects: math, English language arts, social studies, and social-emotional learning. We have standalone classes taught by subject area specialists in outdoor education, math, literacy, health and fitness, art, music and performance, French, library, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). Our specialists work alongside grade-level teachers to integrate subject skills into every grade-level class. Our Support Services include Learning Skills Specialists, who work 1:1 and in small groups with students to provide academic support and individualized learning paths.

Attending to the social-emotional needs of students is also a hallmark of Epiphany School. We believe that teaching and developing social emotional skills is as important as teaching academic subjects and that a strong foundation of social-emotional learning (SEL) is essential in creating a learning environment where students can focus, engage, and take mental risks in their academic work. Our teachers and staff connect social-emotional and academic learning throughout the day to create an educational environment where students feel a sense of safety, belonging, and significance. Supported by a school-wide Responsive Classroom approach, our social-emotional program focuses on addressing five core competencies across every grade: cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-control. Whether navigating the complexities of friendships or exploring creative ways to approach a math problem, our students find the confidence and courage to try new things, take intellectual risks, and speak up, knowing they have the full support of a caring
community of peers and adults.

In terms of the school’s relationship to the families in our community, Epiphany believes that close partnership is paramount to creating a learning environment in which all children can thrive. Our engaged parent body participates in school life in myriad ways, from volunteering in classrooms to helping produce dozens of beloved annual events such as Carnival (all are welcome!) and Fifth Grade Graduation. We’re also proud of our strong Extended Day program, which includes camps in the summer and over school breaks, and we recently started offering bus service from the East Side and other areas.
Whether attending our Open House or exploring our campus on an admissions tour, you’ll immediately sense the warmth and authenticity of the strong community for which Epiphany is known.
