Option #1: Daylight adventure
Brunch at Volunteer Park Cafe
This charming spot is abuzz weekend mornings: the Caramelized Banana Brioche French Toast is the stuff of dreams, the daily quiche and strata sing with quality ingredients, and the baked delights make you regret not having a bigger stomach to keep up with your eyes. VPC doesn’t take reservations, so a) share a fragrant scone while you wait for a table; b) arrange for an early sitter and arrive at 8 a.m. to beat the rush; or c) call ahead and get your order to go for a picnic. alwaysfreshgoodness.com

Grab your grub
Yes, it’s a food court… but with some high-quality options. Look for the upscale comfort food eats at Skillet: Counter, the sweet and savory options at Pie, and fresh vegan meals at Plum Pantry.
Play games
Borrow Settlers of Catan, Sorry!, UNO and other classics from the Happy Hour game table, play old-school video games, or jump in and play a giant version of Scrabble, Jenga, Connect Four, darts or checkers.
