Additional information

At Ekone, campers experience being an important member of an inclusive community. Kids and teens gain a precious sense of belonging, with spacious play, meaningful work, inspiring activities, and a powerful connection to nature, peers, mentors, and animals.

Ekone is most famous for one-of-a-kind horse camps for all riding levels, but our Theater, Art, Music, Wilderness, Passage, and Cooking camps are just as awesome!

Days at camp are spent almost entirely outside, with a community of 25-35 kids aged 8-18 in two concurrent tracks. Together, we engage in play, work, skill-building, and activities designed to connect us to nature, each other, and ourselves.

Campers sleep in the fort-like bunkhouse or under the stars. Our wholesome, delicious meals are cooked from scratch, and most of our produce is from Ekone’s own garden. We take a break from screens, competition, and drama. We swim in the pond, swing on the rope swings, catch frogs, and build forts.

Ekone’s horse camps foster a special relationship between humans and horses, with an emphasis on kind and respectful communication with our equine partners. Young Rider sessions cater to new riders and first-time campers. Advanced Camp is for experienced riders seeking adventure. Wrangler Camp is for teens ready to stretch, with horses and around the ranch. Connection Camp goes deep into the horse-human bond. All-Level sessions are good for everyone!

There’s way more to life at Ekone than horses, and these sessions are extraordinary small-group experiences:

Wilderness Camp features learning about edible and medicinal plants, wilderness survival skills, tracking animals, sneaking and games in the woods, building shelters, hand crafts made from natural materials, hiking down to the Mermaid Pools to swim.

Theater Camp explores creative expression through time on the land, improv games, circus skills, character development, writing dialogue, and creating costumes and sets.

Passage for Teens is a challenging adventure in nature for teens ready for more independence in life, seeking more resilience, confidence, and trust. It centers on an overnight solo on the land, supported by compassionate mentors and a supportive community of peers.

Music Camp is an experiment with making music outside in the woods, on the edge of the canyon, in the meadows, in all the ranch’s unique buildings, and with awesome mentors and peers.

Art Camp is a crafty paradise in which anything is possible, from natural dyeing to collage to basking-making to creative writing to painting a giant group mural together on one of Ekone’s buildings.

Cooking Camp is a smorgasbord of secret recipes, harvest bounty, and tasty concoctions, complete with knife skills training, personalized chef hats and aprons, and lots of kitchen tips & tricks.

Every day at camp is bursting with adventure, connection, fun, and learning! Campers come home taller, stronger, and more resilient, hopeful, and helpful, with new skills that will last a lifetime.
