Orca Network & The Langley Whale Center

Does your family love whales? Just a short ferry ride from Mukilteo, the Langley Whale Center on Whidbey Island is a one-of-a-kind destination where kids and adults alike can dive deep into the fascinating world of Pacific Northwest marine life — suggested donation for admission is just $3 per person! Tours are also available by reservation.

The Langley Whale Center is the public storefront of Orca Network, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to connect people with whales and inspire conservation of the marine environment. As we celebrate our 25th anniversary this year, Orca Network has grown into a respected regional organization with programs spanning education, whale sightings, marine mammal stranding response, and advocacy for the endangered Southern Resident orcas and other marine mammals of the Salish Sea.

A hands-on experience for curious kids

The Whale Center is designed with families in mind. Children will be delighted by the dedicated Kids’ Room, filled with videos, books, puzzles, games, and coloring pages that make learning about marine mammals genuinely fun. Some of the exhibits feature several marine mammal bone specimens, skulls and pelts, as well as a listening booth to listen to different whale calls, and other marine life!

Friendly volunteer docents are on hand throughout your visit to answer questions, share stories, and bring the exhibits to life. Whether your child is a budding marine biologist or simply wild about whales, the Whale Center offers something to spark curiosity and wonder for all ages!

Learn about our neighbors in the Salish Sea

One of the most beloved exhibits at the Center is dedicated to the critically endangered Southern Resident orcas — the iconic pods that visit Puget Sound seasonally during the fall and winter months. This exhibit offers an in-depth look at their lives and what each of us can do to support their survival. Another exhibit not to miss highlights the remarkable North Puget Sound Gray Whales, a small population of gray whales that come to feed in Saratoga Passage and Possession Sound each spring. Also, don’t miss Orca Network’s daily-updated whale sightings map — follow the action in real time while you are there!
