The Children’s School is a non-profit preschool founded in 1965. We accept children between the ages of 2.5 and 6 years old. Our hours are 9:00 am – 1:00 pm with options for 2 – 5 days/week. We provide a nurturing, play-based learning environment for young children and focus on sparking curiosity, building foundational social-emotional skills, and fostering kindergarten readiness through child-led exploration and meaningful play.
We believe children learn best through hands-on discovery. In our program, in line with evidence-based practice, the emphasis is on children’s ability to play, explore and discover. Our emergent curriculum is rooted in the experiences and interests of the children, while honoring their right to play, explore and express themselves. Teachers act as facilitators, encouraging curiosity and guiding children to develop empathy, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.
We are deeply committed to cultivating community—within our classrooms, among our families, and throughout our neighborhood. We put children and families first by also investing in our dedicated teachers. Our school provides healthcare benefits and values professional development and well-being, ensuring that educators can bring their best to the classroom every day.
