Few toys inspire as much creativity as LEGOs – or as much pain on parental bare feet. Fortunately, EMP museum's upcoming exhibit highlights LEGOs in a decidedly vertical fashion.
This Friday, Jan. 24, you can get a sneak peek at their new exhibit "Block by Block: Inventing Amazing Architecture" during their all-ages Brick Party happening 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 adults ($10 EMP members) and $5 ages 17 and younger.
The exhibit features LEGO recreations of 10 landmark buildings (including the Space Needle, naturally), built by former LEGO certified professional artist Dan Parker and his Seattle-based TrainBuilder Productions.
Not only will you be among the first to see these amazing creations, but you'll also have the chance to play LEGO video games on the giant Sky Church screen, test your LEGO minifig knowledge, make stop-motion animation videos with Clay Animation Network, and create your own LEGO marvels with help from Bricks 4 Kidz, Play-Well TEKnologies and SEALUG.
Can't make the party? "Block by Block: Inventing Amazing Architecture" will run Jan. 25 through April 20 and is included with regular EMP admission. In addition to ogling the 10 architectural wonders, LEGO fans of all ages will enjoy a build-your-own masterpiece area, where completed structures can be added to the "Mini-Megalopolis" display inside the gallery.
Stay tuned: Next week Seattle's Child will publish a parent review of the exhibit as well as a Q & A with LEGO professional Dan Parker.
