Head to Peter Kirk Park this Saturday for a fun walk detailing the story of “The Water Princess” by Susan Verde. Beginning at the library and winding through the park, this adventure is perfect for the entire family. Please wear masks and socially distance on the path, particularly while reading each page of the PopUp. StoryWalks are a local program promoting literacy, health and art appreciation through deconstructed children’s storybooks in outdoor community spaces.
STEAM Learning from Home: Bug Safari – Indestructible Web

Citizen scientists, ages 5-12, are you ready for your next Bug Safari adventure? Before heading out, be sure to print your activity sheet, and gather your bug safari kit. Visit the website for a kit list, but don’t worry, if you don’t have everything on the list you can still join the fun and learn all there is to know about indestructible webs.

Calling all film enthusiasts! The Museum of Pop Culture in partnership with SIFF presents the 15th annual Science Fiction + Fantasy Short Film Festival (SFFSFF). This event will bring together cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers, and artists (virtually) for a showcase of illuminating and unconventional films. Take a look at the listings of the short films in advance to make sure they are right for your kids.
Chehalis Centralia Railroad Scenic Train Ride

Nothing raises your spirits quite like a change of scenery. Join the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad for a fun weekend excursion now through September 26. Bring along your family and take a 1-2 hour scenic journey back into history on a coach from the 1920s. This excursion, through the Chehalis River Valley, provides indoor and outside seating. In compliance with Washington State Phase 2 and 3 guidelines and restrictions, trains will be limited to 50-75% capacity and the social distancing requirement will be enforced to ensure your safety as well as the safety of others. Tickets $12-17.
Night Light Drive In at Open Space on Vashon

By popular demand, Vashon’s outdoor movies have been extended through Sept. 27. This Saturday, head to Night Light Drive In for a showing of the family-friendly film “Finding Dory” (PG). And on Sunday, you won’t want to miss the always-thrilling “Jaws” (PG). Concession orders must be placed before 7 p.m. on the day of the show.
