Head to Richmond Beach for a fun walk as you read “The Bear Song” by Benjamin Chaud, or swing by Peter Kirk Park in Kirkland and read through “The Water Princess,” by Susan Verde. Please wear masks and socially distance on the path, particularly while reading each page of the PopUp. StoryWalks are a local program promoting literacy, health and art appreciation through deconstructed children’s storybooks in outdoor community spaces.

 

STEAM Learning from Home: Bug Safari – Indestructible Web

Sat, Sept 5 10 a.m. FREE

Citizen Scientists, ages 5-12, are you ready for your next Bug Safari adventure? Before heading out, be sure to print your activity sheet, and gather your bug safari kit. Visit the website for a kit list, but don’t worry, if you don’t have everything on the list you can still join the fun and learn all there is to know about indestructible webs.

 

Chehalis Centralia Railroad Scenic Train Ride

Sat/Sun, Sept 5/6 1, 3, 5 p.m. Tickets $12-17.

Nothing raises your spirits quite like a change of scenery. Join the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad for a fun weekend excursion now through September 26. Bring along your family and take a 1-2 hour scenic journey back into history on a coach from the 1920s. This excursion, through the Chehalis River Valley, provides indoor and outside seating.

 

Night Light Drive In at Open Space on Vashon

Sat/Sun Sept 5/6 9 p.m. Vashon Theatre $20 per car.

By popular demand, Vashon’s outdoor movies have been extended through Sept. 27. This Saturday, head to Night Light Drive In for a showing of the ever-popular film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (PG-13). And on Sunday, you won’t want to sing along with Grease (PG-13). Concession orders must be placed before 7 p.m. on the day of the show.

 

Teen Tix as Activism Workshop (Virtual)

Fri, Sept 4 10 a.m – 2 :30 p.m. FREE

Is your teen interested in art and activism? Join TeenTix’s series of FREE workshops exploring how art is a powerful tool for activism and the fight for racial justice. This Friday is all about Performance Art as Resistance with Elisheba Johnson. Come learn about the history of social justice movements and how art has played a role in both the past and present movements.

 

U-Pick Blueberry Season at Mountainview Blueberry Farm

Snohomish Fri-Sun Sept 4-6 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Berry picking is a great way to get outside while remaining physically distant. Bring you whole family and some buckets and fill them up with delicious blueberries from Mountainview Farm. The U-Pick Season extends through early September. We’re open Tuesday-Sunday all summer!
