Erika’s weekend picks have a mix of indoor and outdoor activities this week.

PopUp StoryWalk

Peter Kirk Park and Redmond Library FREE

Head to Peter Kirk Park for a fun walk detailing the story of “The Water Princess” by Susan Verde. This adventure is perfect for toddlers through elementary-aged children. Please wear masks and socially distance on the path, particularly while reading each page of the PopUp. Or, starting on Saturday, you can take in “Fox and the Bike Ride” by Corey Tabor outside the Redmond Library.

StoryWalks are a local program promoting literacy, health and art appreciation through deconstructed children’s storybooks in outdoor community spaces.

 

Puget Sound Bird Fest (Virtual)

Sat/Sun, Sept 12/13 10:30 a.m. FREE

Join speaker Kaeli Swift for the festivities on Saturday with a live interactive webinar ‘Something to Crow About’, followed by other interactive webinars throughout the day. Cast your vote in the annual Bird Fest Photo Exhibition and Contest, then explore the Kids Corner and pose your questions at the Birders’ Help Desk. You can even take virtual birding tours of some of our local hotspots!

 

Get Crafty with BAM (Virtual) 

Sat, Sept 12 12:30 p.m.  FREE

The Bellevue Arts Museum may be closed for the time being, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get crafty with us! Join our education team online and view the how-to videos for fun crafts you can do at home. Every Saturday there will be new content and crafts posted! Woodland Park Zoo 

9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Adult (13–64) $22.95; Senior (65+) $20.95; Child (3–12) $13.95; Toddler (0–2) Free.

Zoo-goers must reserve an entrance time in advance online and enter through the West Entrance (near the penguins). Once inside, you can enjoy the day until the zoo closes. The animals will be so happy to see you.

 

Fremont Sunday Market

Sun, Sept 13 10 a.m – 3 p.m. FREE

The Fremont Sunday Market has returned with new hours, a gated entry and limited occupancy. Visit the website ahead of time see which vendors will be present and pre-order and pre-pay when possible. Come explore the market with the family and welcome back!
