Ring in the Year of the Horse with SAM's annual Lunar New Year celebration presented by PNC Bank at the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
Enjoy live performances from Mak Fai Kung Fu & Lion Dance Association, enchanting storytimes inspired by the holiday, and drop-in art activities facilitated by local artists and more!
Spread joy, happiness, and blessings of good health with a free outdoor lion dance by the Lieu Quan Lion Dance team!at 1 p.m. outside the museum.

11 am | Illustrated storytime
Experience a live illustrated storytime with Julie Kim inspired by the holiday.
noon | Lion dance
Kick off the new year with a free outdoor lion dance and martial arts demonstration by Mak Fai Lion Dance!
noon–1 pm| Live calligraphy
Set an intention for the new year through Vietnamese calligraphy and a gifted prosperity word with artist, Linh Nguyễn!
1 pm | Lion dance
Spread joy, happiness, and blessings of good health with a FREE outdoor lion dance by the Lieu Quan Lion Dance team!

Dumplings, edamame, and non-alcoholic beverages sold by Shooby Doo Catering.
Art activity
Contribute to a community horse sculpture with a participatory prize designed by local artist Monyee Chau. The result will be displayed at the museum for all to see.
Festival programming is free with suggested museum admission ($14.99 Adults, free for ages 14 years and younger )and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Capacity is limited and early arrivals are highly encouraged.
Note: If you buy tickets online (museum admission) you are guaranteed entrance to the event. However, if you show up in person you can do a suggested donation to enter the museum/event, but this event often sells out and you won't be guaranteed a spot.Â
