The Tacoma Light Trail will officially kick off on December 31 and is a free winter light art festival in downtown Tacoma.

The Tacoma Light Trail is set to illuminate the city this New Year’s Eve! Kicking off on December 31, the festival will feature a vibrant dragon parade, captivating fire and cultural dances, and an array of dazzling light art installations. The festivities
are free and will brighten downtown Tacoma with light art and events from December 31 to January 11, 2026.

New Year's Eve Celebration: December 31 from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. 

Everyone is invited to join a spectacular celebration on New Year’s Eve! The festivities will kick off with a magical Dragon Parade and an outdoor event filled with a blessing. There will be multiple performances by diverse organizations including fire and cultural dances.

Light & Sound Trail: December 31 – January 11, 2026

Participants can experience 50 stunning light art installations throughout Tacoma, ranging from illuminated sculptures to mesmerizing projections. An interactive map will guide visitors through walkable districts, making all art easily accessible. The light displays will be available nightly from 5 PM to 9 PM, and don’t miss out on the Lighted Bike Ride with Downtown On the Go.
