Philadelphia-based nonprofit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is dedicated to finding cures for all children with cancer. This month, they’re working with fifty families across the country to spread awareness about childhood cancer by incorporating an old-fashioned classic into their fundraising: the lemonade stand. These preselected families — all of whose lives have been impacted by cancer — will fundraise by hosting lemonade stands from June 12 to 14, 2015. Their goal is to raise a total of $1 million for cancer research.
Volunteers in Alex’s Lemonade Days will be spreading awareness about the prevalence of childhood cancer by hosting stands, enlisting fellow community members to host their own stands and engaging on social media by using the hashtag #LemonadeDays. All volunteers who sign up to host stands will receive a limited-edition box of lemonade and fundraising supplies: a banner, poster, stickers, temporary tattoos, and more.
