Grandparents are dedicated to caring for a child | Unsung Heroes

Shelton couple put their whole hearts into a child's care.

Seattle’s Child is proud to partner with the state Department of Children, Youth and Families Strengthening Families Washington to honor outstanding caregivers doing important work on behalf of children. Throughout February, we’ll introduce you to Unsung Heroes from around the state. Enjoy their stories.

Judy and Adrian Daum, Shelton

Adrian is a retired veteran, and Judy works part-time as a substitute teacher. They have always been passionate about helping children and being actively involved parents as their own children grew into adulthood.

They are now grandparents and have been caring for a child for nearly a year, fully committing themselves to meeting his needs. Judy and Adrian demonstrate strong empathy and emotional awareness in supporting the child and have a solid understanding of child development. They also have a strong support system in place!
