October 6-12 is Fire Prevention Week. If you haven’t developed a fire escape plan with your family, there’s no better time. Seattle Fire Department provides free planning material online, and they’ll be around town in person to talk about their jobs, their trucks and your safety.
Bring the kids to Fire Day at MOHAI on Oct. 10 for hours of engines, artifacts, demos and conversations.
Preschoolers will also enjoy Firefighter Story Time at 10 Seattle Public Library branches throughout the month. Meet local firefighters, try on helmets and learn how to prevent fires and protect yourself and your family in case one occurs. seattle.gov/fire
