It's easier than you think to get a great fire blazing on the beach in Seattle.

Looking to get your outdoor thrills in these last few precious days of summer? Convert your fun from day to night at these sweet Seattle-area beaches with an easy, minimal-hassle beach fire.

When you're building your fire, keep a few simple regulations in mind:

  • Build your fire only in designated containers.

  • Use only clean, dry firewood; using driftwood is not allowed at Seattle public beaches.

  • When you’re done, douse your fire with water, not sand, and make sure it’s completely covered (ie, no longer smoking).

Jetty Island

Everett’s Jetty Island offers fire pits on a first-come, first-served basis. Make sure you make a reservation for the quick ferry over to the island if you’re planning a trip; otherwise, schedule your visit for after 2 pm on a weekday, or before or after midday on weekends. 10th St W at Marine View Dr, Everett, 98201

Golden Gardens

Golden Gardens is one of our coolest local beaches; its tiny tidepools are supremely kid-friendly and it’s got enough shoreline to take a stroll. Bring a picnic dinner to keep those end-of-summer vibes rolling when you build your fire at one of its 12 fire pits. If your kiddos tire of gazing out into the Sound, they can play on the immensely cool playground tucked just east of the beach. 8498 Seaview Pl NW, Seattle, 98117

Alki Beach

Alki is the quintessential Seattle beach; it’s what folks think of when they come to visit our city. Although Alki is often extremely crowded, if you come on a slightly overcast weekday, you’ll probably have a better chance of nabbing a fire pit. Prepare to park a bit farther away, as parking can be a challenge close to the beach. If you’re looking to roam around West Seattle a bit while you’re there, check out our guide to the neighborhood.
