Renovated Georgetown Play Area Opens to the Public

Seattle Parks and Recreation has finished their work restoring and renovating the Georgetown Playfield and it is all about promoting health for people of every age.

The play area is officially open—adjacent to the spray park in the Northwest corner of the park—and it is state-of-the-art. It features an airplane-themed composite deck and rope climbing structure for children 5 to 12 years old, a smart play structure for children 2 to 5 years old, exciting rotating play equipment and even a fun mosaic band circle including a drum, chime and xylophones.

There is also a new fitness zone, sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, with various types of exercise equipment suitable for teens and adults. Even the pathways have been improved for better running and walking options.

When spring and summer arrive, park-goers will enjoy the upgraded picnic area with additional tables and BBQ grills for a more inviting community space.

Gather the family for an active outing on the next sunny day and enjoy the new space!
