SPACE station to land in Magnuson Park

A new low-power FM radio station may be serving the Magnuson Park area

A new low-power FM radio station may be serving the Magnuson Park area, thanks to a new permit issued by the FCC for the Sand Point Arts and Cultural Exchange. SPACE, a nonprofit that facilitates arts and culture projects in Magnuson Park, has been given 18 months to raise $40,000 to get a radio station built and running. The new station will require very little energy to run and serve a range of 3 to 5 miles. SPACE’s executive director Julianna Ross hopes that the new station, potentially one of the first of its kind to serve Seattle, will increase community and youth access to radio programming. spaceatmagnuson.org
