Honoree: Chandra Reeves, Tulalip
Nominator: Early Learning/ECEAP Staff at Tulalip
Even after experiencing several tragedies within her family, Chandra Reeves has shown resilience and a
determination to keep her family strong and her culture an integral part of their lives. She not only cares
for her own children, but also those of her two sisters’ as well. Chandra has overcome obstacles in her
life in part by her strong will and also by recruiting support from others within the community. The staff
here feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to get to know Chandra and her children. We have seen
them grow and develop under her guidance, and have witnessed Chandra’s growth as well. She has
instilled social and emotional competence in her children, and she ensures that their culture is a major
part of their upbringing. Chandra has shown courage and strength in her life, and should be awarded an
Unsung Hero Award.
