Monday, June 4

LibraryLab: Program Robots with Color! Program an Ozobot Bit by drawing lines and color segments. Make your own maze or game and put the bot to work. 4 to 7 p.m. Delridge Branch Library, West Seattle.

Young Composers Workshop Concert Enjoy the culminating concert of the 2018 Young Composers Workshop. Seattle Symphony musicians will perform chamber works written by the ten young composers in this year’s workshop led by Composer in Residence Alexandra Gardner. 7 p.m. Benaroya Hall, Downtown Seattle.

 

Tuesday, June 5

Detective Cookie's Chess Club Kids ages 7 and older are invited to play and learn chess at any level. 3 to 5 p.m. Seattle Public Library – Rainier Beach Branch (Rainier Beach).   

 

Wednesday, June 6

Thursday, June 7

Museum First Thursday Enjoy free admission to select museums (note: there may be additional fees for special exhibits) including Burke Museum (U District), Museum of History and Industry (South Lake Union), Living Computers 5 to 8 p.m. (Sodo), Northwest African American Museum (Central District) and Museum of Flight  5 to 9 p.m. (Tukwila). Seattle Art Museum (Downtown Seattle) hosts a drop-in studio led by local artist Jono Vaughan. Wing Luke Museum (International District) has a children’s story time followed by an art activity at 11 a.m.

 

Friday, June 8

NOAA Open House Learn more about how the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration works to understand and predict changes in Earth’s environment. Activities include science presentations and panels, interactive exhibits and tours. Adults must bring a valid photo ID to gain access to the campus. Noon to 6:30 p.m. NOAA, Seattle (Sand Point).

Washington State Parks Free Day Celebrate the great outdoors with a trek through one of Washington’s beautiful parks. Day use only. Additional fees for camping. Various locations throughout Washington.  

Free Fishing Weekend Grab some fishing gear and try your hand at fishing. No licenses, vehicle passes, or Discover Passes required this weekend. However, click here for official rules. June 9-10. Various fishing spots throughout Washington.

Shilshole Boatfest Enjoy the water with sailing lessons, boat rides, and tours. Plus, enjoy live music, inflatables, lawn games, vendors, and food trucks. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Shilshole Bay Marina, Seattle (Ballard).

Summer Splashtacular Pirate themed water safety event for kids ages 5 to 12 with games and prizes. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Federal Way Community Center, Federal Way.

Free Yoga on the Lawn Join Ripple Yoga every Saturday through Sep. 1 for a free relaxing and revitalizing morning yoga practice. All people and abilities welcome. Mats provided.  11 a.m. Cascade Playground, Seattle (South Lake Union).

CeAtl Tonalli See a traditional Aztec Dance group, part of the weekly Summer Music Festival series at University Heights. Noon to 1 p.m. University Heights, Seattle (U District).

Georgetown Carnival Food, entertainment, carnival games, power tool races, interactive art, marching bands and more. Noon to 10 p.m. Airport Way South and South Lucille Street, Seattle (Georgetown).

Nature Vision: Cougars and Bears, Oh My! Learn about Pacific Northwest predators and how to share the environment with them. Touch real fur and see skulls up close of each animal. For ages 6 to 12 with an adult. 1 to 2 p.m. Richmond Beach Library, Shoreline.

Arlington Goat Sanctuary Meet goats that are available for adoption. Wear close-toed shoes. Dogs not allowed. Parking: Shuttle to and from the farm from the parking lot at Kent Prairie Elementary School 8110 207th St NE, Arlington, WA 98223. On-site parking available for those with limited mobility and families with children younger than 4. 1 to 4 p.m. New Moon Farm, Arlington.

Family Walk at the Arboretum Explore the arboretum in this 90-minute guided walk with games, hands-on activities and learning geared toward children (ages 2 to 12) and their caregivers. Meet in front of the Graham Visitors Center. 1 p.m. Washington Park Arboretum, Seattle (Montlake). 

 

Sunday, June 10

Kids Bike Swap Kids can trade in the bike they have outgrown and pick out a bike that fits them. Kids donate their old bike, and receive credit for the value based on its size and condition. A parent or guardian must come with each child at the Swap. The credit can be used towards purchasing a bigger bicycle. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sharing Wheels, Everett.

Bicycle Sundays The four-mile stretch of Lake Washington Boulevard between Mount Baker Beach and Seward Park is closed to motorized traffic several Sundays through September. Enjoy biking, jogging or strolling along the water. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lake Washington Boulevard South (Mount Baker).

Sunday Public Sail Each Sunday, the Center for Wooden Boats offers free 45-minute rides on Lake Union. Set sail on one of the classic boats. Sign up for a slot in person, several trips throughout the day. Space is limited. Sign up begins at 10 a.m. Center for Wooden Boats (Lake Union). 

Family Dance Party Enjoy a free concert from Eli Rosenblatt (mix of salsa, reggae, hip hop, American folk music and funk) along with trampoline bouncing. Noon. Springfree Trampoline, Issaquah.
