7 Family-friendly wineries in Woodinville

Day trip to Woodinville for wine tasting and more

With over 100 wineries and tasting rooms, Woodinville is known as Seattle’s own little “wine country.” Just 30 minutes from downtown Seattle, visiting Woodinville is an easy day trip for locals and visitors who want to escape into a picturesque and unhurried setting with local restaurants, farms for produce and flowers, and a rich settlement history. When not at the tasting table, Woodinville offers biking, hiking, and play for the whole family.

Just as you might when traveling or visiting a restaurant, pack some activities and extra snacks to keep your little ones occupied while wine tasting. The costs of wine tastings vary but are often waived with wine bottle purchases. Please drink responsibly.

Most kid-friendly: Two Vintners Woodinville Tasting Room

Address: 18576 142nd Ave. NE, Woodinville
Hours: Friday, 4:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Reservations: Seating is first-come, first-served, but reservations are recommended for groups of 8 or more people.
Food: Water and charcuterie boards ($29+) are always available; we were welcomed with complimentary fruit snacks and pop for the kids. Charcuterie boards, small bites, and sometimes seasonal bites are available for purchase. Outside food is prohibited, but non-alcoholic beverages such as water and juice are welcome.
Special events: Happy Hour (4:00-8:00 p.m.) and Live Music every Friday (6:00-8:00 p.m.). Select Saturdays features live music as part of their Acoustic Saturdays series from 2:00-4:00 p.m. View their online calendar for more information.

Perhaps the most kid-friendly winery is the Two Vintners tasting room in the Artisan Hill district of Woodinville. This newly remodeled tasting room has an inviting children’s corner with a chalkboard, toy chest, train table, and foosball table. Kids can cozy up on a bean bag and peruse the stack of children’s books while their parents supervise from a short distance. Outdoor seating is available seasonally.

Quintessential: Chateau Ste. Michelle

Address: 14111 NE 145th Street, Woodinville

Reservations: Reservations and walk-in appointments are on a first-come, first served basis.
Food: The Chateau Kitchen by Chateau Ste. Michelle is open daily in the Tasting Room from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and offers shareable, larger plates, soup, salad, and “Flight Bites” curated to pair with the featured wine flights.

Some current experiences include Chateau Picnics, Decadent Duets: Wine and Chocolate Pairing, a Brunch Box Experience, and a Grand Estate Tour. In the hands-on experience “BLEND: Winemaker for a Day,” you will make your own red blend.

Chateau Ste. Michelle is Washington State’s oldest winery and is an iconic landmark in the area. Families can wander the estate-style property resembling a European chateau. Spot the resident peacocks and the fish and ducks in the pond. The 105-acre property hosts the popular outdoor summer concert series—a quintessential summer experience. One section allows you to bring your chairs, blankets and picnic. Wine, food, and non-alcoholic beverages are available at the concerts, and children under the age of 3 are free with a ticketed adult in the General Admission area.

In the summer, they have a popular “Wednesday Wine Down” series with live music, wine specials, pizza, and small plates.

This modern industrial tasting room pours wine from two independent wineries under one of the most acclaimed Washington State winemakers, Mike Januik. Novelty Hill and Januik welcomes children but they are expected to stay seated at the table. Snacking on the wood-fired made-to-order pizzas should help kids enjoy the experience. The outdoor tasting room is spacious and includes a bocce ball court. Dress for the weather and warm up by the outdoor fireplaces.

Exceptional Dining: The Restaurant at Delille

Pro tip: Arrive during the Mid-Day Menu (2:30-5:00 p.m.) to share a pan of their uniquely memorable Nachos. While I miss the former steak option on their kid’s menu, I appreciate the quality of selections versus the usual “frozen to fried” kid fare.
Address: 14300 NE 145th St., Woodinville (New restaurant and tasting room are scheduled to open at Seattle’s University Village in Spring 2025)
Hours: Monday 11:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m.; Wednesday-Friday 11:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m.; Saturday 11a.m.-9:00 p.m.; Sunday 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
Reservations: Reservations can be made on TOCK.
Food: Lunch, Mid-Day, Dinner, Kid’s and Happy Hour menus are available.
Special events: Visiting during Seattle Restaurant Week is an excellent opportunity to experience a specially curated menu at a great price. Special dining experiences can be found under reservations.

What’s better than a wine tasting at Delille Cellars? Combining your wine tasting with an exceptional dining experience at the #4 Winery Restaurant in America—also known as The Restaurant at Delille. The Deck at DeLille Cellars is seasonal but provides a tranquil ambiance for summer afternoons.

Spacious and Filling: Maryhill Winery Tasting Room & Bistro

Address: Hollywood Schoolhouse, 14810 NE 145th St. #A, Woodinville, WA
Hours: Sunday 12:00-6:00 p.m., Tuesday 12:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday 12:00-7:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 12:00-8:00 p.m.* The last call for food and wine tasting orders must be placed 45 minutes before closing.
Reservations: Tasting rooms operate on a first-come, first-served basis; however, you can make reservations through TOCK based on availability. You must call ahead if you are a party of 8 or more.
Food: Lunch and dinner are available at the Bistro at Maryhill Winery. Seasonal food menus keep kid-friendly favorites fresh: warm up with their signature soups in the fall, test out the grilled cheese sampler dipped in a cup of tomato basil soup, and dig into the shareable Sizzle Mac in the summer. Some year-round staples include the cheese and charcuterie boards, bistro bread with dipping oil, and the Maryhill Burger (this can be adapted to be as plain as your little one desires).
Special events: Live music is featured on Tuesday evenings. Reservations are required for special events listed on the TOCK page.

If you want more than a snack with your wine tastings and a little more space to spread out, Maryhill Winery Tasting Room and Bistro is a great option. Maryhill is one of Washington’s largest and most-visited wineries, with four tasting rooms across the state. In Woodinville, guests can sip wine over lunch or dinner in the historic Hollywood Schoolhouse Grand Ballroom or relax on the outdoor lawn when weather permits.

Cozy and Classic: Matthews Winery

Hours: Sunday-Wednesday 12:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday-Saturday 12:00-8:00 p.m.
Reservations: Reservations can be made for up to 8 people (including minors) online via TOCK or by calling 425-487-9810. Groups of up to 14 guests can enjoy wine on their lawn for up to two hours. The lawn is first-come, first-served.
Food: Light snacks, local cheeses, crackers, charcuteries, and juice boxes are available for purchase. Outside food is welcome as long as it does not have strong odors.
Special events: Live music on Thursdays and DJs on Fridays from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

There are a few options of relaxed seating at this tasting room, but kids (and dogs) are especially welcomed on the upper lawn, where there’s space to spread out, sit back in an Adirondack chair, and enjoy a glass of wine. You can also sit in a heated outdoor tent or the indoor tasting room with a more traditional feel. I appreciate the cozy bench seating, pillows, and throw blankets at the corner tables inside.

Personal Favorite Washington Winery: Mark Ryan Winery

Address: 14200 NE 145th St, Suite D, Woodinville
Hours: Sunday-Wednesday 11:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m., Thursday-Saturday 11:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m.

Food: Light snacks, including charcuterie and cheese, crackers, mixed nuts, and chocolates, are available for purchase. They also have sparkling water and sparkling lemonade.
Special events: Summer “Patio Nights” feature music and wine specials on their outdoor patio. See the online calendar for more special events.

Mark Ryan’s tasting rooms aren’t inherently kid-friendly, but they’re my family’s favorite winemaker, and we’ve always felt welcomed. Mark Ryan’s latest tasting room opened in October of 2023 in the Old Redhook Brewery complex. This new space has a second-story deck with heated and covered seating and a seasonal outdoor patio on the main level. The modernized, but casual space has comfortable couches, tables and chairs for groups of up to six people.
