Start the week with some poetry writing,  yoga, and favorite story times. This weekend, pick up the energy with early Easter festivities, a ranger-led hike and skating with Potential Fresh Meat Roller Derby. Have fun out there!

 

Monday, March 25

Brickbuilders Spend an afternoon building LEGO® creations with friends. 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. Skyway Library.

Meet the Authors: Sky Without Stars Tweens and teens might enjoy this conversation with Jessica Brody and Joanne Rendell, authors of Sky Without Stars, a re-imagining of Victor Hugo's classic Les Misérables set in space. 6 p.m. University Bookstore, Seattle (U-District).

 

Tuesday, March 26

Ballard Playspace Drop in at this indoor play area where the community can connect and have fun. 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Ballard Church, Seattle.

Poems without Boarders Have a teen or tween who loves poetry? Today they can learn to write different forms of poetry from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. 3 to 4:30 p.m. Tukwila Library.

March Mathness It’s basketball with a STEM twist! Shoot hoops while learning math through games, puzzles and hands-on activities. 7 to 8 p.m. Bothell Library.

 

Wednesday, March 27

Drop-in Fitness Class It’s the final week to take a free Zumba® class or gentle yoga class at the Seattle Center. Open to all ages and experience levels. Sessions are held in the morning and evening; see website for details. Seattle Center (Lower Queen Anne).

PJ Library Song and Story Time Meet by the children’s castle for 30 minutes of fun activities and stories. 11:30 a.m. Elliott Bay Book Company, Seattle (Capitol Hill).

“Scaredy Squirrel” and the “Little Red Hen” Theater For Young Children presents a double feature that’s perfect for children ages 3 to 8. Meet an overly cautious yet lovable rodent, and then watch the classic story about a hen's hard work come to life. Free; donations appreciated. 10 a.m. Loyal Heights Community Center, Seattle.

Yoga for Preschoolers Go on a yoga adventure through storytelling. Little yogis will learn poses to help them breathe and meditate. 10:30 to 11 a.m. Kirkland Library.

Toddler Gym Playtime Meet new friends, bounce and play, and create your invention at the Imagination Playground. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Magnolia Community Center, Seattle.

Hip Hop Hooray! Easter’s on its way! The Eastside welcomes the Easter Bunny this weekend with crafts, story time and a parade. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Outlet Collection (near the playland by Forever 21), Bellevue.

Ranger-Led Hike at Coal Creek Explore Bellevue’s largest park and learn about its history and the wildlife living there. Meet at the Cinder Mine trailhead, wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. 10:30 to noon. Coal Creek Natural Area, Bellevue.

Lil’ Kickers Open House If you’re considering enrolling your child in a soccer clinic, here’s your chance to try before you buy. Kids can enjoy soccer activities and the whole family can learn about Lil’ Kickers soccer program. For children ages 18 months to 12 years. Sensory Friendly Morning at MoPOP Families looking for low-sensory museum environment can check out MoPOP before it opens to the public. Explore the exhibits and do an art activity in the gallery. ArtVenture: Future Worlds What will the world look like in another century? Gather inspiration from the “Between Bodies” exhibit, and then write, paint and imagine the world 100 years from now. Drop in 1 to 3 p.m. Henry Art Gallery, Seattle (U-District).

Community Fun Skate PFM Roller Derby invites you onto the rink for their first ever Community Fun Skate. All ages and abilities welcome. Loaner skates available; donations appreciated. 3 to 6 p.m. Magnuson Community Center.
