Weekend fun includes a bird tour, a ranger-led walk, puppet show, "Jurassic Park" at MoPOP and more.

 

 

"The Magic Teakettle" Puppet Show

Told using Bunraku puppetry, this Japanese folktale is about an old teakettle belonging to a peddler woman, that transforms into a Tanuki, a raccoon-like animal found in Japan. The woman takes care of the Tanuki, only to discover he’s a magical spirit who will bring her good fortune and luck. Great for kids ages 3 and older.

 

Bird Tour
Sat, March 30, 8-10 a.m.
Discovery Park

It’s spring and a great time to walk with experienced birders through Discovery Park and search for migratory birds and year-round residents. BYO binoculars if you have them and wear comfortable walking shoes. Great for children 8 and older. $5. Pre-registration required.

 

Ranger-led Hike at Coal Creek Natural Area

Cinder Mine Trailhead on Newcastle Golf Club Road. FREE

Dress for the weather and come explore Coal Creek (Bellevue’s largest park) at the Cinder Mine Trailhead. You’ll learn all about the area while being guided by a Bellevue Park Ranger on a moderately difficult 2-mile walk. Meet at Newcastle Golf Club Road, west of Redtown Trailhead.

 

Ojos de Dios Art Workshop

Snoqualmie Library FRE

Head to Snoqualmie Library for an amazing arts and crafts project this Saturday inspired by the Huichol Indians of Mexico and the Aymara Indians of Bolivia. The Ojo de Dios, or God’s Eye, is an ancient symbol. Make your own using weaving techniques with colorful yarn and feathers. Great for kids ages 7 and older.  Please pre-register

 

Campout Cinema: "Jurassic Park"

MoPOP, Seattle

Head to MoPOP for an amazing movie night this Saturday. There will be trivia and prizes plus tons of dinosaur vs. human action in the classic film, Jurassic Park. $14. 

 

Community Fun Skate
Sun, March 31 3-6 p.m.
Magnuson Community Center FREE

PFM Roller Derby is hosting a great skating night at the Magnuson Community Center this Sunday. Whether you already love skating or are brand new to it, come out and enjoy with family and friends. Event is free, but donations are graciously accepted. BYO skates or loaner skates will be available in all sizes. Kids younger than 18 need parent permission.
