It's Opening Day of boating season — and Star Wars Day! Here are our picks for a fun family weekend.

 

Windermere Cup and Opening Day Boat Parade
Sat, May 4, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Montlake Cut; FREE

Dress for the weather and BYO chair for the official opening of Seattle’s boating season this Saturday. Featuring the Windermere Cup Regatta crew races (10 a.m.) followed by a decorated boat parade, you’ll get to see all sizes of boats – from rowboats to Seattle Fire Department boats. Plus there will be food trucks, family activities and giveaways. 

 

Everett Rock and Gem Show
Sat/Sun, May 4/5 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Everett Community College Student Fitness Center. FREE

Calling all geology buffs: Head to Everett for this fun annual show featuring hourly door prizes, kids' activities, special exhibits, local dealers, demonstrations, refreshments and more.

 

May the 4th Be With You

Toy Wars: A Star Wars Toy Story

Charlie Williams, the Noiseguy is bringing his crate of classic and new Star Wars toys to the White Center Library this Saturday to re-enact the original Star Wars trilogy, Toy Story-style. May the Fourth be with you!

 

Asian-Pacific Island Heritage Month Celebration
Sun, May 5 noon-5 p.m.
Seattle Center Armory. FREE

Celebrate the Asian-Pacific cultures at the Seattle Center this Sunday. Enjoy music, and art from the diverse Asian-Pacific Islander communities. Then stick around to watch youth drill teams, dance performances, a hum bow eating contest and more.

 

Walk for Water
Sun, May 5, 1 p.m.
Seattle Center Fountain

Imagine having to walk miles for clean water every day. This is reality in many parts of the world. This weekend, take part in a 5K walk to benefit clean water programs in some of those areas like Ethiopia, Bangladesh and Honduras. $15-$25, free ages 5 and younger, fundraising encouraged.
