Seattle Maritime Festival – Family Fun Day

Seattle Maritime Academy. FREE

Celebrate the amazing water and water-related industries around Seattle at this annual, fun event. Ship tours, harbor tours, kids’ activities, live music, food and more.

 

World Migratory Bird Day Bash
Sat, May 11 8-10 a.m.
Larsen Lake Blueberry Farm. Bellevue. FREE

Flock to the Larsen Lake Blueberry Farm in Bellevue this weekend to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day.  Park rangers will be leading drop-in programs throughout the morning. Wear comfortable shoes and browse for birds during a ranger-led hike, fly through the dangers of migration during a fun migration game, and create crafts for bird-friendly communities. All ages welcome. No pre-registration or RSVP required.

 

Northwest Paddling Festival
Sat, May 11 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunset Beach at Lake Sammamish State Park. FREE

Curious about water sports? Come try out paddleboarding (SUP) and kayaking ($), watch races and kayak polo; visit with vendors and more. Kids can paddle in aqua paddlers or build a toy boat. Parking $10 or free with Discover Pass. 

 

'80s Weekend
Sat, May 11 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Living Computers Museum & Labs, Seattle

Ready Player One? Get ready for a blast from the past! From the immersive Totally 80s Rewind exhibit to the collection of microcomputers, find your favorite retro games across the museum. Plus, grab a Pac-Man bingo activity for a chance to win some fun prizes. Event included with museum admission ($18).

 

Capehart Grand Opening Celebration
Sat, May 11 11 a.m.-noon
 Discovery Park. FREE

Attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and take a tour of the new wildlife viewing trails at the restored Capehart Park (15- to 20-minute walk from all Discovery Park parking lots). Light refreshments provided.

 

Bonsai Fest
Sun, May 12 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Pacific Bonsai Museum, Federal Way. FREE

The annual Bonsai Fest is back and better than ever this Mother’s Day. May is peak-bloom time for azaleas and other flowering bonsai. Come watch demonstrations of how bonsai are made and view special exhibits that illustrate bonsai design principles. Festive food and beverages will be available for sale, plus kids can make a card for Mom at the art station.
